Mellow Yellow/Macro Monday

Is this a face only a mother (or another
Galapagos land iguana) could love?
Darwin described them as "ugly" and having
"a singularly stupid appearance."  This one
lives at the Darwin Research Station; he's
full-grown at about 5 feet long and 25 pounds,
will live to be 50 or 60 years old—
and I kind of like his extraordinary face.

After so many lovely flowers I laughed when I saw his mug offered as your Mellow Yellow/Macro Monday contribution. Yep, that is indeed a yellow macro.

Their size and lifespan are impressive.

Before long at all I expect to offer him competition for those folds of skin about his neck.

Come to think of it, there is a vague floral resemblance he possesses. Quite vague...

I’m probably the only one to see this but there is a cute, gruff, and fuzzy quality to him that reminds me the tiniest bit of this one-time famous actor.

All of your Galapagos photos, so far, look like they will make a nice self-made 2013 calendar. If you do go through something like Zazzle let us know.

Darwin sounds somewhat harsh in his descriptions. This fellow has a wise old visage and looks rather endearing. Great image, Alexa.

I don't think he's ugly or stupid...just pensive... And I love his yellow. Great banner, too.
